I have been filming at the local New Tech High School for the last several days, which has restricted much of my blogging to Twitter or blogs specifically used for capturing observations and reflections related to the ongoing research. Today is the last day for a couple of weeks. At that time, we will spend about a week interviewing teachers at the school to follow-up on our filmed observations, which has been quite exciting. We’re also making some project on an accompanying book that is about 1/2 done that specifies the Critical CineEthnographic methods we have developed by blending and expanding existing and past research methods in an attempt to overcome the limitations of each.
We (myself and 6 doctoral students) presented on our first documentary at AERA last week. A short version of the expository documentary can be found on YouTube. It is still a work in progress, but we will have to do more after the semester and current data collection are done.
