Link to an article on a case for making schools less designed for conformism

I had posted this on Facebook, which again was probably not remotely the correct forum for it.

The discussion in the Salon article “gets to the core of what we as parents believe is best for our kids. If we want schools to be something different, to foster creativity, critical thinking, and the kinds of problem solving we believe they need to be successful in the world now and in the future, there needs to be a massive discussion at state and national levels. We need to think systemically about the goals of school, how they may change meaningfully, and how we can develop other systems that give students the power to lead in their own education.”
